How to Calculate the Foundation Number
A foundation number is a number calculated from a multi-digit number. The number represents the foundation of the numerology energy represented by the multi-digit number.
The foundation number almost always is a single-digit number. In some cases — for some personal numerology chart positions — the foundation number may be the master number 11, 22, or 33.
You are likely to see the foundation number referred to as a reduced number. That's because the number is reduced from a multi-digit number using calculations that result in a single-digit number.
But the single-digit number does not represent all of the energy the multi-digit number represents. It is the foundation, not the whole thing.
You see, each individual digit of a multi-digit number also represents numerology energy. The individual-digit energies are combined with, or blended into, the foundation number energy.
With the energies represented by the foundation number combined with the energy represented by each of the multi-digit number's digits, the result is a wholistic energy that the multi-digit number truly represents.
Calculation of the foundation number is required for creating numerology charts. The calculation reduces a multi-digit number to either a master or single-digit number. That is the foundation number.
The foundation number is required for almost all personal numerology chart positions that are represented by a number.
Calculating the Numerology Foundation Number
For dates, the date numbers are added up, then reduced to the foundation number. (Months are calculated as if they were numbers — January being the number 1 and December the number 12.)
For names, the letter values are added up, then reduced to the foundation number. (A letter-value chart is further below.)
To reduce a multi-digit number to a foundation number, do this:
If the result is more than 9, add together each digit of the result.
Keep doing that until the resulting number is 9 or less.
If you are being alert for a master number while doing the calculations, end the calculations if the result equals 11, 22, or 33.
