Belief Effect on Numerology

During my decades of experience working with numerology, I've concluded that the majority of people who pursue numerology are in three broad categories.

1. People who use numerology to help them make life decisions.

2. People who are curious.

3. People who are desperate for answers.

And, within those three categories, there are two approaches.

1. Believing everything about numerology.

2. Analytical assessment of the information numerology can provide.

The two approaches are what this article is about. They occur in each of the three categories. (The three categories were named to point out that the need to believe does not happen only to the desperate.)

Numerology does not require belief to be what it is.

Belief may have a positive or negative effect on a person's experience of numerology.

As examples, belief may enhance the effect numerology energy has. It also may prevent a person from seeing what is there and what is not there.

An analytical approach tends to observe what is there without filtering through a belief.

Here are two examples of how belief and an analytic approach can affect how numerology is experienced.

Believing a Person is Governed by Their Name

Some people assume a person is governed by their name. That is a false assumption. People are influenced by their name, not governed by it.

When a person does believe they are governed by their name, the name's numerology influences are likely to have a larger effect — so long as the belief is aligned with the energies the name represents.

Belief is similar to free will in that it has more power than the numerology influence. When a certain influence is believed, that influence is there for that person whether or not it is a numerology influence.

An Analytical Approach to Energy Their Name Represents

This approach understands that the numerology influence is a subtle encouragement, a slight push toward the fulfillment of the energy.

The person comprehends that their own decisions and actions have an effect on the numerology energy. They can choose to act to either encourage or discourage the numerology influence, according to their personal preference.

Numerology energy and free will are both acknowledged with the analytical approach. The person can choose to encourage one or the other, or to align free will with the numerology energy for the best boost possible.

Believing Everything About Numerology

Believing everything related to numerology (or any other study) can be a disadvantage. Belief tends to remove discernment.

While much of numerology can be beneficial, some of it might not. This is often seen in requests for lucky numbers. While many believe that numerology lucky numbers must be an advantage in lottery or other games of chance, it's simply not so. The Making Sense of Numerology Lucky Numbers page talks about that.

Another belief that seems to be widely held is that a name change will fix things in a person's life. While a different name can introduce different energy, the old name energy doesn't disappear. The problems a person has will not magically disappear with a name change. Nor will success in a venture suddenly manifest because of a name change.

Those examples illustrate how belief can blind a person to the reality of numerology, that it can be used to reveal likelihood and tendencies, but that it will not run a person's life.

Observing the Effects of Numerology Energy, or Lack Thereof

There is something about observing the actual reality of what is, the facts, that tends to put a person in a better position to handle life and succeed in whatever is pursued.

Learning about numerology and observing the effects and potentials of numerology energy, without altering the actuality with wishes or beliefs, puts a person in the wonderful position of being able to get as much benefit from numerology that a person can get.

That could be referred to as pure numerology — numerology not altered by expectations, needs, beliefs, or any mental activity other than observing the obvious.

As mentioned, personal beliefs can affect a person's experience of numerology energy so that the energy is enhanced or suppressed. (Free will can completely bypass the effects of the energy.) An analytic approach generally is the best approach for observing and understanding numerology energy.
